So we've essentially left the RDH server. They wiped Friday at 5 p.m. EST and by the end of the weekend there were already massive fortresses.
This wouldn't be suspicious if clans were online working together, but on Saturday afternoon with 28 people on the server admin, our in game neighbor, spawned himself a pump shotgun and nobody said shit.
(Note: Rust now notifies the entire server when an admin spawns an item. This is to prevent cheating, or let folks know some cheating might be happening.)
The core group of people on the server seem to all be friendly with one another and are fiercely loyal to the server. Plus, all the wipes aren't BP wipes, which means they all know EVERYTHING in game. It's just a matter of collecting resources for them.
The whole time I was on the server there were zero raids. Just peeps shooting each other and joking about it.
All that alone didn't get us to leave. Our fort is up and was getting kind of awesome, but things were getting hot again elsewhere, so...

Meanwhile, business picked up back on Rust Vanilla, so we're sticking there.
Let me start by saying Roq and mike.jason.thompson are allies. They've been building like crazy and their base has to get as much attention as our base does. They've actually got three towers now. They've very good allies too as they joined us while we were on the RDH server and worked their asses off there. On Rust Vanilla, they've given us guns, silencers, BPs, high external stone walls, etc. Not to mention full access to their base.
So if these were the days of UO, they'd be TKV members running around with green robes.
Also, the Dixon guy who lives on the hill overlooking our base is a noob and friendly.
Basically, we're trying to keep our neighbors friendly and target folks on the mainland (except onegun's group). More on that...

There was a big raid yesterday during the day. They raided the biggest player on the server (timessah), and the shit talk was flying when I logged on that night. He declared war and started building an army. He was recruiting newer players, equipping them, and giving them tasks.
Because time is an ally with all the biggest players on the server, this is going to get interesting. He and his group (Yuma, Thumbless, Stinkfist, etc.) are the ones I've said we should target. They're the group that surrounded the Water Treatment Plant with a wall and who have driven off anyone who speaks against them.
However...kmdove and ChivalryUndead are the raiders they're after and kmdove openly talking about wanting to raid our base. He did so last night while listing other bases he wants to hit. So, we can't exactly help him because he's going to come after us.
So we're in a limbo made worse by...

A game changing update is about to hit. If you've been considering jumping back in *cough*Gordon*cough*, that update hitting is going to be that time.
In Rust Legacy, BPs were found randomly at monuments.
In current Rust, items, BPs, or BP frags were found in or around monuments. You could research the item to learn how to make it, get lucky and find the BP, or collect enough BP frags to either get assigned a random BP at 4 different levels or use them on the research table to improve your chances of successfully researching an item you found.
Now they're adding an XP and leveling system that is apparently going to replace the randomness of BPs.
I have no idea how this will affect monuments. (the buildings and what not where you go break barrels and open crates for items) Without BPs or BP frags to search for, do they matter at all anymore? OR will they simply eliminate researching so while you can find things, they're one offs? No idea.

That makes the next bit of time both boring and fun.
Boring because if true and the next update has the XP system, then the next wipe will be a BP wipe, so no point searching for BPs or researching. Plus, if the wipe is coming as soon as tomorrow or next Thursday, then no point collecting resources.

Rust is updating today, but no XP system yet. Gary says "it's a bag of shit right now".

I’ve made the XP system live on the pre-release branch. It’s a bag of shit right now, so don’t bother trying it yet. It’s running on Unity 5.4 beta, so it’s particularly crashy. My guess is that they’re looking to release 5.4 in time for GDC next month, so it should hopefully stable up by then. Having Rust running on it and highlighting the crash problems should also make both products better.
One thing I want to address this week is the fear that you won’t have to loot anymore. Players are concerned that they’ll no longer have to explore and loot because they can learn blueprints by gaining XP. This is true for the most part.
Our intention is to make loot more relevant in other ways. Right now a lot of the stuff in Rust is crafted out of raw resources like wood, metal etc. We want to make that more logical. Say you want to craft the Tuna Can Wall Lamp: you’ll need to find a fork and a tuna can. You can’t just magic those up, you need to find them in loot. This would serve to make the sophisticated late game items more precious, because you’ll have to find rarer components.

Saw something awesome last night that is new. Some guy was really talking shit to one of the server's bigger players. This was going on for at least a week. Last night they found his base. I happened to be nearby and went for a look.
It was a 6-7 story metal tower. I listened to the typical blasts as they knocked down doors, but then saw something I've never seen in Rust.
Because this was personal, they went to the bottom floor and started demoing the building. You could see it crumbling into a rain of resources bit by bit. I stopped in there later in the night and there was nothing left of the main building. Just the stone walls that had been erected to try and protect those inside.
Wipe coming Thursday at 2 p.m. (No word on what time zone.) It'll be a forced wipe meaning the update from FacePunch actually causes the servers to be wiped. I think a BP wipe will come with it. Not sure though.

If you were thinking of coming back soon (Troy) or just showing up because your friends are there and not playing ARAM (Gordon), don't do it this month.

Since I'm a perv I had turned off the nudity filter and closely examined both Cake and Leisher's packages and have screen shots of both. I'm curious with the filter turned off what the ladies will look like. Like, will Leisher have a big hairy bush or is he sporting a landing strip? maybe he's shaved pink..
