That is interesting. He was a huge Obama cheerleader, years ago.

He hasn’t started as many wars, but he’s extended the ones we had, and I don’t even think Dick Cheney or Richard Nixon would say the president has the right to unilaterally decide whom he can kill around the world

Maybe Cheney, but only because he was never the prez.

On Tuesdays, the president can just decide whom he wants to kill, and you know, since 9/11 there are magic words like 'terror,' and if you use magic words, you can justify any power grab you want.

Or spending increase.

Cusack seems to be pissed that his words were taken out of context or something.

Well, he's probably concerned that he just got himself blacklisted in Hollywood.

When Obama was elected he promised to heal the world/recede the rising oceans/whatever, using his brand of smart diplomacy.

Well, he has gone a long way to uniting ancient enemies... against us.

So what's the over/under on the Supreme Court actually ruling against Obamacare with that "by the state" subsidy situation? Since ruling against it will seriously damage Obamacare, I can't see it happening no matter what the law says, but I wonder what the conventional wisdom is.

I'm guessing 5-4 that the state subsidy is OK.

I'm hoping they kill it just so I can see the hilarious fallout. Comedic opportunities like that don't come around too often.

I'm guessing it'll be ruled okay, even though they intentionally wrote it that way to "threaten" states into creating their own exchanges.

Asshole talks down to Supreme Court.
But the president's comments on Monday, during a press conference on the sidelines of the G-7 summit in Germany, were perhaps his toughest to date. He strongly suggested the court would be running afoul of established legal guidance if it rules against the administration, and took the rare step of saying the court should have stayed out of this fight.

"It's legal because I, the president, did it," is getting dangerously close to a Nixonian position.

Iraq War III begins. 450 "advisers" are going into a complete shitstorm where, even if they win, they'll lose in another decade as the region destabilizes.
However, former Iraqi national security adviser, Mowaffak al-Rubaie, told the BBC the move was not enough.

"This is too little too late. I call for the American administration to get their act together." he added.

"They don't have any unified strategy. We don't understand their policy in Iraq and in Syria, in the region. They are giving conflicting signs."

Dude, how about all the fuckers in YOUR region of the world getting together, coordinating your assaults, and dealing with these assholes? Pretend they're Israel and stage some sneak attacks.

Sending 450 "advisors" allows Obama supporters to pretend like he is responding forcefully to a threat without "starting a war" like that piece of shit George Bush.

The next president will have to make real decisions about Isis. If it is Hillary, every decision she makes will be god-tier for the good of mankind. If it is a republican, it will be a War For Oil/Kill Brown People.

Not on free trans-Pacific trade. Sit down for a second, because you're going to hear a donkey slam Obama while a pachyderm suggests supporting him.
"The President tried to both guilt people and impugn their integrity. I was insulted," Rep. Peter Defazio, D-Oregon, told reporters after the meeting.

Republicans pushed hard for the trade package. Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wisconsin, said the trade deals it greases the wheels for are at "the dawn of the 21st century."

Systems are too old for encryption? That's funny, I remember generating my first set of 128 bit PGP keys on a P2 133 in 1996.

Government computers with sensitive data are so old, some can't be encrypted

That's 100% completely, utterly false. PGP has been out since 1991, almost as long as the gov't has been trying to cripple it for foreign export. It would've been more honest to say that the workers are too lazy and incompetent and the system's too sprawling, shittily designed, and outdated to accomplish the feat.

It's very likely that the computers involved are older than that.
A recent federal review found that the U.S. Secret Service uses a mainframe computer system from the 1980s.
...
The U.S. Navy’s ship-based radar systems and Britain’s Atomic Weapons Establishment, which maintains that country’s nuclear warheads, use PDP minicomputers manufactured in the 1970s by Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC). Another user of the PDP is Airbus, the French jetliner manufacturer.
...
The F-15 and F-18 fighters, the Hawk missile systems, parts of the U.S. Navy submarine fleet, and Navy fighter test systems on aircraft carriers use DEC’s VAX minicomputers from the 1980s for various purposes...
...
"There are thousands of DEC systems in use for military applications around the world," says Jones, "including PDPs from the 1970s, VAXes from the 1980s, and Alphas from the 1990s."

It's not just military, either. It's government. Remember the fiasco about VA files and the ancient computers that wouldn't talk to each other?
